The data Includes CLC 2006 “artificial surfaces” classes 1-11 converted to polygons. Osm land use classes asphalt, brownfield, commercial, construction, garage, garages, harbour, industrial, industrial; retail, landfill, pitch, plaza, quarry, railway, residential and retail are interpreted as urban areas. These polygon are connected to final fishnet polygon so that if some part of the osm urban land use polygon intersects with fishnet this polygon is classified as urban area. OSM data is not quality assured and is based on a dataset that can be freely modified by all users. The dataset was approved by all HELCOM Contracting Parties in the HOLAS II Human activities data review process during first quarter of 2017.
