Input of hazardous substances (HOLAS 2)
Input of hazardous substances pressure layer is interpolated from CHASE Assessment tool concentration component. The contamination ratio values were calculated with CHASE Assessment tool for hazardous substances monitored in water, sediment and biota.
Classified mean contamination ratio was used in the interpolation. Classification is based on the http://stateofthebalticsea.helcom.fi/about-helcom-and-the-assessment/downloads-and-data/.
The points were interpolated to cover the entire Baltic Sea with Spline with barriers interpolation method.

Data source:
HELCOM HOLAS II assessment of hazardous substances
Data processing:
Contamination ratio is calculated for each monitoring point and the "worst" ratio value of sediment, water or biota was chosen. Ratio is the result of measured concentration value divided by a threshold. Contamination ratios are grouped based on an agreed classification as follows:
Original Concentration score; contamination status; classified pressure value
=0.5; Low contamination; 0
0.5 < CS =1.0: Low contamination; 0
1.0 < CS =5.0; High contamination score; 0,25
5.0 < CS =10.0; High contamination score; 0,5
>10.0; High contamination score; 0,75
Classified values were aggregated to 1 x 1 km grid, by calculating the mean value. Points were interpolated with spline with barriers tool. Results were lightly generalised and after that normalised.
Data quality: Good (some data gaps may still occur)
Attribute information: pressure value, originating from classified CHASE values
Spatial coverage: Whole Baltic Sea, some data gaps may occur in original point data.
Spatial resolution: Original data as points, interpolated to 1 km x 1 km grid.
