HELCOM hotspots

This dataset consists of information and status of the main pollution sources within the Baltic Sea catchment area (the Pollution Hot Spots). The HELCOM pollution Hot Spots were idenitified in 1992 by the HELCOM Joint Comprehensive Action Programme (more information is available on www.helcom.fi). The current status of active and cleaned hot spots is available https://helcom.fi/action-areas/industrial-municipal-releases/helcom-hot-spots/.

Use constraints: The sites of the pollution hotspots are not precise. When the dataset is viewed at a large extent (full view of the Baltic Sea catchment area) points will inevitably cluster and overlap.

Statement

This dataset consists of information and status of the main pollution sources within the Baltic Sea catchment area (the Pollution Hot Spots). The HELCOM pollution Hot Spots were idenitified in 1992 by the HELCOM Joint Comprehensive Action Programme (more information is available on www.helcom.fi).

Dataset was created for showing information on the geographic location of the Pollution Hot Spots in the Baltic Sea region. The data set was originally created by UNEP/GRID-Arendal ( http://www.grida.no/about.cfm). Since 2001 the data set has been updated by HELCOM.

88.2 Gliwice (Municipal, Poland)

88.3 Katowice (Municipal, Poland)

100 Lodz (Municipal, Poland)
