Benthic species 2016-2021 (HOLAS 3)
Data represent the presence/absence distribution of Benthic species in the Baltic Sea in 1x1km grid. Map is based on data submitted for the HOLAS3 data call and complemented with data from HOLAS2 and HELCOM Biodiversity databases. All datasets are first aggregated to a 5x5km grid and areas deeper than 10m are excluded.
For the 5 new species in HOLAS3 (Potamogeton, Myriophyllum, Najas marina, Fontinalis, Callitriche, Zanichellia) only data reported for HOLAS3 and data in the biodiversity database were used. For Mytilus no filtering with depth was made.

All data reported for HOLAS3 (points, polygon and the raster presenting predicted presence of eelgrass in the Estonian waters) were generalized to 5km x 5km grid cells. Data were reported by Denmark, Germany, Estonia and Finland.
Same methodology was used for HELCOM biodiversity database data, and years 2000-2021 were selected.

For depth the Emodnet bathymetry 2020 data with resolution 100x100m was used. The original data was transformed to 1x1km grid so that if one 100x100m cell within the 1x1km grid was shallower than 10m, the whole grid cell was indicated as shallower than 10m.
Raster datasets were made of all 3 different data sources and summed together. Finally the datasets were filtered with the 10m depth layer.
