Input data for the Marine conservation and maritime sectors (in)compatibility Analytical Module on ReMAP project, created in 2024 and compiled from different data sources is provided. Below is further information on datasets applied for the module and original metadata. More information about the module and the project can be found at http://www.geoportal.ulpgc.es/remap/ Input data contains: 1. Natura 2000 sites (https://www.eea.europa.eu/en/datahub/datahubitem-view/6fc8ad2d-195d-40f4-bdec-576e7d1268e4) 2. Nationally designated areas (CDDA) (https://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps/data/nationally-designated-areas-national-cdda-17/cdda). This dataset was harmonized with the data model of the module “MSP compatibility with marine conservation analytical module” for ReMAP project. 3. HELCOM MPAs (https://metadata.helcom.fi/geonetwork/srv/eng/catalog.search#/metadata/d27df8c0-de86-4d13-a06d-35a8f50b16fa). This dataset was harmonized with the data model of the module “MSP compatibility with marine conservation analytical module” for ReMAP project. The application of the following international protection regimes can be considered in a similar way as a national implementation for the protection of a HELCOM MPA: - SCI/SAC (EU-Habitats Directive); - SPA (EU-Birds Directive); - UNESCO Biosphere Reserve; - UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site; - Ramsar Site. HELCOM Contracting Parties who are also EU Member States are encouraged to, when feasible, designate all appropriate Natura 2000 and MSFD MPA sites also as HELCOM MPAs.
